Transmission Services
Transmission Services and repairs are a major, time-consuming, and often expensive truck repair. That is why it is essential to check your fluid levels every time you have your oil changed. Low fluid levels can seriously damage your transmission. We provide solutions for any automotive or truck transmission needs. Our expertise stems from over five decades of experience in our field, combined with ongoing training in the latest technology and best repair practices. We do it all and provide the highest quality service from auto transmissions to high-performance trucks, semis, and fleet transmissions.

Orange County Transmission & Differential
A Rebuilt Transmission is a top-quality unit in every way: built by the best technicians, with the best parts, for the best price! Each case is thoroughly checked for tolerances, and any reconditioning is done in-house. We also stock the most popular Fuller, Spicer, and Meritor transmissions for immediate exchange, or we can repair or rebuild your unit.
At Orange County Transmission & Differential, we offer superior services in a wide range of medium to heavy-duty transmission services. These services address common issues that plague commercial vehicles, including fluid leaks, overheating, and slipping gears.
Common Medium and Heavy-Duty Transmission Services
Preventative maintenance: Regular servicing, including fluid and filter changes, helps extend the life of your transmission and prevent major failures.
Diagnostics: Using advanced scanners and equipment, technicians can identify issues like electronic control unit (ECU) malfunctions, sensor failures, and torque converter problems.
Repairs: For specific component failures, mechanics can replace parts such as clutch plates, seals, or solenoids to address issues like delayed or unpredictable shifting.
Rebuilds (Overhauls): A rebuild involves disassembling the transmission to inspect, clean, and replace worn components before reassembling it. This is a standard and often more cost-effective option than a complete replacement for severe internal damage.
Replacements: If a transmission is beyond repair, it can be replaced with a new, remanufactured, or used unit. Authorized dealers often carry warranty-backed remanufactured transmissions from brands like Allison and Weller.
Fluid flush: .The old, contaminated transmission fluid is completely drained and replaced with new, high-quality fluid.
Filter replacement: The transmission filter is either replaced with a new one or thoroughly cleaned to remove debris and ensure proper fluid flow.
Pan inspection and gasket replacement: The transmission pan is opened to inspect for metal shavings and damage, and the old pan gasket is replaced with a new one.
Comprehensive inspection: Our technicians will check for signs of wear and tear or damage to the transmission components to detect potential problems early
Fluid Level Check & Fluid Replacement :
We will check your fluid levels. Low fluid levels can result in insufficient lubrication of transmission parts, accelerating wear and tear and leading to problems.
Fluid replacement should be done every 30,000 miles to promote proper vehicle operation. We’ll change your filter and replace the old fluid with fresh, new fluid. We’ll also clean your pan and replace the old pan gasket.
Tranny Flush:
Approximately every 30,000 miles, fluid begins to break down and loses its effectiveness. That leads to build-up and deposits, which can hasten the erosion of your transmission’s internal parts. Regularly performing a tranny flush removes that debris and keeps your transmission clean. That will increase the life and performance of your transmission.

Common Signs Affecting All Transmissions
Key signs of transmission issues and specific symptoms can vary slightly between automatic and manual transmissions. Ignoring these warning signs can lead to more serious and expensive damage.
Sounds
- Whining, humming, or buzzing: Can signal low or contaminated transmission fluid, bad bearings, or damaged gear teeth.
- Clunking: A harsh, clunking sound when shifting gears or accelerating can indicate low fluid or damage to the gears, universal joints, or driveshafts.
Smells
- Burning smell: An acrid odor, similar to burnt rubber or toast, suggests overheated transmission fluid. This fluid has lost its effectiveness and can no longer cool or lubricate the system properly.
Leaks
- Leaking fluid: Puddles of fluid under your car can be a telltale sign. Transmission fluid is typically reddish and has a sweet, distinctive odor. Leaking fluid is a common cause of low fluid levels, which can lead to overheating and transmission failure.
Performance
- Delayed engagement: A hesitation or a noticeable delay when shifting into drive or reverse can indicate low fluid or internal component issues.
- Loss of power: A failing transmission can cause poor acceleration or a complete loss of control, even if the engine appears to be functioning correctly.
Warning lights
- Check Engine light: While this can signal a variety of problems, it often turns on for transmission issues, including overheating, solenoid faults, and gear slippage.
- Transmission temperature light: If a dedicated transmission overheat light illuminates, it is a critical warning that requires immediate attention.
Signs specific to automatic transmissions
- Slipping gears: The engine may suddenly rev while driving, with the RPMs increasing, but the vehicle’s speed remains unchanged. This can feel like a loss of traction.
- Jerking or shaking: A transmission that trembles or shakes when shifting gears can indicate problems with internal components or low fluid levels.
- Won’t go into gear: The transmission may refuse to engage in a particular gear or any gear at all. In modern cars, a computer may force the car into “limp mode,” where it only operates in one gear to protect the transmission from further damage.
Signs specific to manual transmissions
- Dragging clutch: When the clutch pedal is pressed, the clutch disc fails to disengage from the flywheel, resulting in an inability to shift gears without a grinding noise.
- Difficulty shifting: You may experience excessive resistance or struggle to shift gears smoothly.
- Gears pop out of place: The transmission may spontaneously shift back into neutral while driving, especially when accelerating
